Privacy policy
In short: Tokencito needs no account or personal data, and your progress stays on your device. To improve the game we measure how it is used, with anonymous statistics you can turn off in Profile. The details are below.
What this covers
The Tokencito app for iOS and Android, the version you play in the browser (app.tokencito.com) and this website (tokencito.com). The controller is Webstarted LLC, which publishes Tokencito under the Webstarted Games brand.
The iOS and Android app
It needs no account or sign up and collects no personal data. It has no ads or cross app tracking, and it does not use the phone's advertising identifier.
Your progress, your reviews, your streak and your chosen language are stored on your device, and are deleted if you uninstall the app.
Usage statistics: to improve the game, the app may send anonymous statistics: which lessons are started and finished, and whether one is abandoned and at which step; with what score; which explanations are opened; whether you turn on the reminder; whether the Tokencito Complete screen is opened and whether it is bought or restored; when sharing is tapped, and whether you come back another day. Also technical data (device model, system and app version, language). They are sent with a random identifier the app creates, never with your name, your email or your answers. PostHog processes them on servers in the United States, in a project set up to discard the IP address and not derive your location; offline, they are stored on the device and sent later. You can turn them off in Profile, with "Send anonymous statistics".
Reminders: if you turn them on, the app schedules the notifications on your own device. We do not use a notification server. Turn them off in Profile or in your phone settings.
Purchases: "Tokencito Complete" is bought inside the app, and the payment is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, with your account at that store and under its privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details or your name: the app only asks the store whether the purchase exists, and stores the answer on your device.
If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple may share with us the crash reports and the feedback you choose to send, under its own privacy policy.
The web version (app.tokencito.com)
It works like the app: no account, and your progress stays in your browser's local storage. If you clear the site's data, it is gone.
It also uses Google Analytics to know how many people play and which lessons and games of the day they start and finish, with their score, and when sharing is tapped. We do not send your name or your answers, because we do not have them. Turn it off in Profile, with "Send anonymous statistics".
This website (tokencito.com)
It is a static site, with no accounts or forms. It uses Google Analytics to count visits, the play and store buttons people tap, language changes, taps on "Share with someone", whether the glossary practice question was answered right or wrong and, in the game of the day, whether it is started and finished, how many answers were right on the first try, and whether the result is shared; and, in "Guess the token", whether a game is started and whether each round's question was answered right on the first try (never which word you picked). Your game of the day answers are kept in your browser's local storage so you do not lose your progress; they are not sent anywhere.
The site and the web app are hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any server, processes technical data from each request (for example, the IP address) to deliver and protect the pages.
Google Analytics in detail
Google receives technical data about the visit: pages viewed, device and browser type, an approximate location derived from the IP address and the events listed above. We use it only to understand what gets used and what to improve.
Advertising is turned off: the data is not used for ads or ad personalization.
In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Analytics runs without cookies. Elsewhere it uses first party Analytics cookies, unless your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal: then it does not use them either.
Without cookies, Google Analytics still receives anonymous pings about the visit and the events, with no identifier stored in your browser. To send it nothing at all, use a content blocker or the Google Analytics opt out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout); in the web version, the switch in Profile works too.
What we do not do
We do not sell data, we do not show ads and we do not share information with anyone beyond the services named on this page.
Children
Tokencito is meant for people aged 16 and up. We do not ask anyone for personal data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
Since there are no accounts, we do not keep data that identifies you. You delete your progress yourself from your device or browser. For questions about the statistics, or to exercise the rights your local law gives you (for example, the GDPR in Europe or the LGPD in Brazil), write to us.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we update this page with its new date. For any privacy question: [email protected].
